First garment?
Which of these patterns is best to make as a first-time garment? I originally planned to knit the Hot Lava Cardigan as my first garment (with hopes of it looking more like this), but now I'm thinking the Anthropologie-inspired caplet or the One Skein Wonder Shrug might be a bettew choice for a first garment. ( hmm, but then my arms will still be cold! )
So which do you think is best? (oh, and please let me know if there are really any differences between the last two shrugs) |

I'm about to make my first garment too! I'm going to make the Dream in Color shrug. The pattern isn't online, but I was sent it from a yarn store, so pm me if you want it. I think it's super cute, but I also really like the two shrugs you mentioned, so it's a toss up!

I think the Anthro inspired shrug would be easiest, and you can knit the sleeves longer. Another one that's easy and free is glampyre's minsweater/boobholder - http://glampyreknits.tripod.com/glam...otos/id62.html which can also be knit with longer sleeves and length, like these http://merp.wordpress.com/2006/07/09...gan-completed/

I like that hot lava shrug, I think I'll try that at some point. After I saw it I went looking for patterns for a button up cardigan that has long sleeves and a long waist, but I can't find any. I don't like 3/4 length sleeves and I really don't like cardigans that stop at my hips. I'm tall, it just makes me look like I'm wearing some tiny person's jumper.

thank you everyone for your input, i've narrowed it down to either the hot lava or the anthro caplet, so keep the comments coming.
