Yarn Type Help
Hi, I am posting this question here, because it is a crochet project.
I just purchased Birthstone Afghans and going to make the December one. So, I was looking at the yarn requirement, and it says: Worsted Weight Yarn, Approx: 57 oz (1,620 grams, 4,005 yards) I was looking at the "I love this Yarn" from HobLob. BUT it's: 7oz 198 grams 355 yard per skein so, if I do the math (please note: I am numerically challenged), 11(ish) skeins would give me the yardage, but be 77 oz. I am STILL not sure what all the relationships are between yardard and weight, etc... so, guess my ques. is, if I don't follow the exact requirements, will I lose something in the pattern definition? Could I still be ok to use "I love this yarn" or should I look for something that exactly matches? This yarn stuff kicks my butt! TIA! :muah: |
Go by yardage. Different fibers have different weights; cotton yarn is heavier and will have less yardage in 4 oz of it than 4 oz of wool or acrylic.
