Dora the Explorer Knit A Long
Several weeks ago I found a French pattern for Dora the Explorer. After paying to have it translated I realized it was more of a rough guide then what we would consider a pattern. Additionally, the French knitting terminology is a bit different than what we understand here in the states. Anyhow, I am working off the notes and creating the pattern in a format that can be understood by all.
With all that said I would like to invite everyone to join us at Jo Jo's Softies Group for a knitalong for Dora. The knitalong will officially start on June 1st.
A picture of the finished work is posted on my blog

I am currently doing mine on size 5 needles with Cascade 220 superwash and am going to guesstimate that she will be about 20-22 inches tall. You can adjust the size by using smaller needles and a different weight yarn.

I joined the yahoo group. I will probably knit in Rowan Handknit Cotton. I will have to watch Dora so I can get the right colours.

Hi! I joined your yahoo group. My dd is a real Dorah fan so I know
she'd never forgive me for passing up the chance to make her a doll!
Now to start yarn I needed an excuse!

I picked the Cascade 200 for the range of colors although I'm not crazy about the flesh color I am using. You need the following colors: Orange for the shorts, fuschia or dark pink for the T-shirt, yellow for the socks, purple for the backpack, white for the shoes and flesh color for the body.

My gd would LOVE this dora doll. I just requested to join in the Yahoo group. I can't wait to read the pattern and begin.

Josette, is there any way you could PM me the pattern? I'm not supposed to join Yahoo groups, but I'd really like to make this doll for my cousins.

once you are a member of that group you can get the pattern from there :)
