Hand cranked sock knitting machine video

While looking on youtube.com for a video showing knitting two socks on circulars I came across this

I was so intrigued ,I looked on Ebay to see what they might cost..Ouch!! to steep for my pocket.

Has anyone here used one ? How much do they run? I'd like to find a deal on one that I could afford.

it's so cool to watch, but YES way too expensive! i was just watching the other sock knitting video on youtube- basically the same thing. she cranked out 1/2 a sock in the time it took me to do a few rounds!

it sure would help with the christmas knitting!

I think machines like that kinda take the fun out of knitting....

I guess you could still feel accomplished...but I prefer to relax and do it myself!

I agree, if you are going to make them on a machine then just buy them at a store!! For me, the process is the part I like.

But some people like gadgets so for them it might be fun.

That thing looks incredibly complicated! They say that you can knit a sock on one of those in 90 minutes. But does that include all that set up time?! I think it's something that if you like that sort of thing and get used to it, that you would be able to use it pretty easily, but it just looks as if the woman in the video is constantly fixing and adjusting everything. And it looks like it doesn't do the 2nd half of the foot-- that there's still a lot of hand knitting to do! I guess there are people who would love one of these, but it's not for me, that's for sure. There is a site that sells restored ones for close to $2000. The eBay ones are from $200 - $1100. You'd better love socks at those prices:) . The addi one they show only has the first part of the video up-- be interested in seeing the 2nd part.

I totally have to agree with you all on it taking the fun out of knitting. I just found the clip intriguing to watch. My DH likes alpaca socks , I just thought for making his socks I could get them done in no time.
