Paws and claws went out today priority mail, conf # 03081400000189535166

Shandeh 10-19-2008 10:10 PM

I got "Forever Friend" started this weekend!

misha rf 10-20-2008 06:09 PM

Paws & Claws arrived today! Thank you so much for the soap (it smells lovely) and the bracelet! I've gone online to look at VCA & am impressed. Thank you so much!!!!

Question: How much yarn are y'all using for each section? Will a full ball of Peaches & Creme work? (OK, I know technically it would be 2, since it's knit doubled.) Just plotting my color choices...

Thank you again!

Shandeh 10-21-2008 01:46 AM

Misha, I used about 1 1/2 balls of yarn for my section.

Puppy Love arrived from Texas this morning. It is adorable! I'm so happy to be part of this project.

Thank you Jennifer for the sock yarn. I can't wait to get started on a new pair.

misha rf 10-21-2008 10:06 PM

I'm done! (Yay for size 11 needles!)

It DOES go quickly, doesn't it?!
I'll check on the next knitter for you, Misha.

Last night, I finished the first section of "Forever Friend", and my little stuffed friend immediately cuddled up in it. ;)

Thank you again!

Glad you liked the soap and the bracelet. VCA is the place I take my cats too for vet services and get their food from. They are a really great place. The donation for the bracelet goes to the Katrina pets.
Once you get started the sections sure go quick don't they!

Sandy,

I love the photo!

I just won the MOST INCREDIBLE auction on eBay!

I got 96 skeins of cotton yarn for about 20 dollars!!!!
:cheering: :woohoo: :cheering:

Here's a photo of 6 of the skeins. There are 16 packs like this in the auction. I'm a happy girl. :)

Mulderknitter 10-23-2008 08:08 AM

Wow! what a lucky girl you are! i never find good stuff like that on ebay!

misha rf 10-23-2008 10:55 AM

Holy cow!! :passedout: That's a lot of yarn!!

kellyh57 10-23-2008 01:34 PM

Okay, I realized I never posted my story on my dog! When my husband and I got married, we lived in an apartment with outrageous pet rates. I really wanted a dog since I'd always had one growing up, but I had to go without! A year later we bought our first house. The first thing we did was start looking for a dog! He wanted a basset hound but I said "NO WAY" as they are big, slobbery, shedding loud lugs! I compromised to a beagle. We found one we liked at a small shelter. We went home to think it over and went back a few days later and she had a sold sign on her kennel.

We went to the big animal shelter the next weekend. We walked all the rows and just didn't find the perfect dog. They were either too big, too small, shed too much, or something that we didn't like. Right before we left, we realized that we missed the first row. We walked by and saw a cute little doggie that I was playing with. There was an older couple looking at "Baby" a few kennels down. I didn't feel it with the dog I was playing with and as soon as the older couple stepped away, I went over to see "Baby." She was the cutest little thing! She was about 11 months old and a cockapoo (cocker spaniel/poodle mix). She was really timid and hid at the back of her cage. We got her out and took her into another room to play with her. She was really fun and I was in LOVE! We paid for her and made our appointment to pick her up the next week!

They were supposed to spay her and do all of her shots and stuff. They laid her up on the table and realized she was already spayed, so we ended up getting her cheaper. The thing of it is, she was brought in by a family because they said she was too hyper. (DUH, she was a PUPPY!) Typically, if pets are brought in for any reason, they are euthenized after the 5 day waiting period. If we had not picked her out, she wouuld've been gone on Monday! It just breaks my heart to think that she'd have been a goner if it weren't for us! I can't stand to think about shelters and how many animals they have to put under because of irresponsible people. I can't imagine EVER getting rid of a dog and letting them euthenize them! Yeah, Bailey (we changed her name) is hyper, but she's our dog and we love her to death! She's just adorable too, right???

It WAS luck! I was just looking through yarn on eBay a couple days ago, and saw this auction. I clicked on it out of curiosity, and noticed that the item description said there were 96 skeins. The auction photo only showed 6, so I sent a message to the seller to confirm the quantity. She told me that it WAS 96 skeins, so I immediately bid on it.

I think that most people thought it was supposed to be 6 skeins like I did. So, that's probably how I won. :)

It pays to read the small details!

Yes, it is a bargain. Just a little more than 20 cents a skein!

I'll probably have enough to make a summer top. Ya think? :teehee:

I'm also planning on using some of it for our pet snuggles. That's why I posted it here. I think I'll send some to all of you to use in our blankets. Maybe we should call them all the Pepto Bismol set! Ha! :roflhard:

What a sweetheart you are!
Keep those blankies coming!
Until further notice, you can add me to any blanket you start for the pets. I love working on them and "if" I ever run out of cotton yarn, not likely, it's so cheap it's worth it to me! I also have quite a few extra large circs, if you start running low just pm me and I can start one to go. :blooby:
I feel especially close to this project because both of my kitties were rescues, and I would want them to have blankies in a time of loneliness, sickness, or other need. I can't adopt all the kitties, but I can help keep them snuggled!

I finally finished my part on Kitty Cuddles. Sandy, would you please see if the next knitter is ready?

Am out of town, but will post a pic when I get home on Sunday.

Thanks!

Puppy Love is Ready for Another Knitter

Thanks, my friend!

Feel free to start another blanket for us anytime you want. Just let us know when it's ready to go, and we'll get a group of knitters signed up for it!

Using size 10 or 10 1/2 needles, cast on about 70 stitches. Then knit for 4 inches. Give your snuggle a name, print out the instruction sheet and greeting card to include with the package, and sign the card with your name and state.

I've attached the instruction sheet and greeting card here!
:)

misha rf 10-24-2008 03:19 PM

Feel free to add me if you need another knitter...

:knitting:
Did you get a picture yet?

I'm glad that you're excited! :muah:

That is the plan. I'm waiting to hear back from mamapaulsel, to see if she's ready for the snuggle to come to her place.

I took a photo of Puppy Love this morning; however, I haven't posted it yet because my camera's battery was very low. Once the camera is charged I will post the photo.

I must admit, I rather enjoyed knitting in cotton yarn for an Oddball Blanket. I've got quite a lot of cotton around, so I will check my stash and circular needles and see about starting up another Snuggles Blanket.

Thanks again Sandy for this making this Snuggles Project happen.

Bestfriends.org

I thought I would make a post about where I plan to donate my pet snuggle when the time comes for me to finish a blanket. I also though if others were unsure of a place to donate it, I would make a recommendation. Please don't feel obligated to donate to this organization it's just a suggestion as sometimes it's not always easy to figure out where you'd like to send your knitted gift!

www.bestfriends.org . They are a wonderful organization that helps to take care of animals, even unwanted ones. They have actually taken in all the pit bulls that were taken from Michael Vick's home in Virginia. They will have forever homes there if they are not adoptable. I also emailed the donation cordinator and she said they would be happy to accept our blankets (I wanted to be sure since blankets weren't on their wish list).

So if you're unsure or scoping out places to donate, you may consider this organization! I am making up some knitted catnip toys (thank you Shandeh for the pattern/idea) to send with my knitted blanket when my time comes!

I received Paws and Claws yesterday! I started working on it already in navy and hunter green. My husband asked why I wasn't using white with another color like everyone else . Silly men! It should be on it's way in a few days!!

Shandeh 10-28-2008 10:39 PM

Danielle, I've made you the last knitter on "Forever Friend", so you can donate that one! :)

Secksiebrat 10-29-2008 10:06 AM

Thank you Sandy! I look forward to knitting and donating that blanket to Best Friends!

I received Forever Friend from my new BFF Sandy :muah: and am picking out colors from my stash. I'll be knitting on it tonight and am excited about this project. And probably 99% of the time when I knit I have my cat Meeko on my lap and my golden retriever Joe at my feet. Somehow that seems so fitting doesn't it???

Puppy Love left southern CT today and is headed to the southwest. Delivery Confirmation #: 0306 0320 0001 5128 3279.

Shandeh 11-01-2008 07:52 PM

Mulderknitter, are you still casting on a new snuggle?
Just let me know when you're ready, because I have two knitters ready to knit after you: misha rf, and kellyh57

You'll still need 3 more knitters for that snuggle.

Also, I'm going to cast on four more snuggles in the next two months. They will have a "Royalty" theme, since so many animals have a kingly or queenly attitude. :teehee:

Her Highness - pink, red, purple
Sweet Princess - pink
His Majesty - blue, purple
My Prince - blue

I will probably wait until January to mail these out, so we can all concentrate on our holiday knitting.

All times are GMT -4. The time now is 12:13 AM.
