I need help with instructions!!!

I am new to knitting and a little confused with the intrustions I am following.
the instructions state the following:

Row 3: K2, *yo, slip 1, K1, psso, yo, slip 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K2tog, yo, K3; rep from * to last 9 sts; yo, slip 1, K1, psso, yo, slip 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K2tog, yo, K2.

I am having a problem understanding (rep from * to last 9 sts). when I first read it, I thought I should repeat from the * until I had 9stitches left to stitch and then proceed with the instructions, but I then realized that I would need more than 9 stitches to complete the instructions. So now I am very confused.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Nope, you only need nine stitches, it's just you're making stitches with the YO's and removing slipped stitches by passing them over.
YO=0
Slip 1=1
K1=2
PSSO=2
YO=2
Slip 1=3
K2Tog=5
PSSO=5
YO=5
K2Tog=7
YO=7
K2=9

You do repeat until there's 9 sts left; making a YO doesn't use a stitch, it just adds one.
