tubular cast-off
 

I have a question regarding a tubular cast-off, found here, and a pattern that calls for 4 rows of 2x2 ribbing.

The pattern calls for 4 rows of 2x2 knitting at the cuffs and the fingers, and I've done a tubular cast on for the cuff already. I did this by making the first row a 1x1 cast on, then rearranging the stitches so that I could continue the next 4 rows of 2x2 ribbing. So now I'm wondering how to reverse that process to make the cast off look similar. Should I do the 4 rows of 2x2 ribbing, followed by 1 row of the 1x1 ribbing, then dive into the cast off process?

Any thoughts?
