fingering weight, acrylic yarn... what should I do?
My mom gave me some old yarn from Grandma's stash. It is a really pretty blue and as far as I can tell is approximately fingering weight. The labels are all in German and I can't see anything that looks like a weight classification. Any ideas? It looks quite delicate but is probably quite sturdy. I'd love to do something for a baby...

What is the name on the yarn. Give us any info you have. Even if it's German we may be able to help. Also how much of it do you have?

Here's a few patterns for fingering weight.

Thanks, Jan, for posting those!

The brand name is Stahl or Amore. It also says 100% Orlon and 100% Polyacryl. Each ball is 50 g, 2-fach (which I believe means 2-ply). I've got at least 10 balls with one or two balls of other colors. I've found things that are lace projects for fingering weight, but they often need to be blocked and acrylic yarn, as I understand it, doesn't block well.

No, acrylic doesn't block well or hold it if you do get it blocked. 2 ply doesn't always mean fingering it depends on the singles they plied, but you can probably get a rough idea by looking.

Since it's an acrylic type yarn your best bet is probably not lace, but a hat, scarf etc.
