Are you working the hat flat,or did you transfer it for the picture?

Yes the pattern states to work it flat. I guess that's because the polka dots are done by intarsia with separate balls of yarn and not carried, so the working yarn is right where I need it on the way back.

I hoped the color would be gender neutral, but I'm not sure the style is!

I really like the contrasting textures of the yarn. It looks great. :thumbsup:

So far it looks like it could be for a girl or a boy. I like the way your colors contrast a little more than the model photo. If you go to all that work it is nice for the polka dots to show up a little more. It's going well.
