I have just learnt to knit and now I am addicted.
I have just finished my first scarf using garter stitch. I have now bought some beautiful cashmerino chunky wool (red) and I would like to try another simple but interesting scarf. I can purl and knit but that's about it.
Please can anybody suggest a few simple but interesting ways I could use this yarn to make a wonderful scarf.
One thing I love to do with purl and knit is.
Row 1: (K1, P1)
Row 2: (p1, K1)
Row 3: (K1, P1)
Row 4: (p1, K1)
Row 5: (K1, P1)
Row 6: (p1, K1)
Row 7: (K1, P1) for 6 sts, K24, (k1, p1.)
Row 8: (p1, K1) for 6 sts, P24, (P1, K1)
Row 9: (K1, P1) for 6 sts, K24, (k1, p1.)
Row 10: (p1, K1) for 6 sts, P24, (P1, K1)
Row 11: (K1, P1) for 6 sts, K24, (k1, p1.)
Row 12: (p1, K1) for 6 sts, P24, (P1, K1)
You can go one like this tell you want to stop and then just repeat the first six rows. And get a lovely framed sentral panle that will not curl up... or if you are creative you can us knits and purls opiset to that of the row tou are working on to make simple pictures and or words.
Thanks Kattra. I'll have ago and see what it looks like in the end.
This is one of my favorite easy scarves. I've made a couple of them now.
There is a link right on the directions for knitting into the back loop, too.
Here's what it ends up looking like. For some reason I never took a picture of it finished. :??
That is lovely Jan I will have to look into doing one like that.
