Cardigan knit in one piece
Hello, I'm knitting a cardigan in one piece, starting at the lower back edge. To form the sleeves, the pattern says "cast on 6 sts at beg of next 14 rows" and I'm not sure how to do that. Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Use either the cable cast on or the knitted cast on. There is a video about how to do those in the cast on section of the videos. You basically knit into the first stitch but after you pull up the loop you put it back on the left hand needle instead of transferring it to the right hand needle. Then you knit into that stitch loop and do it again (or between the first two stitches for the cable cast on).

There are several methods.. Pick one!
the Knit cast on the cable cast on the crochet cast on the simple cast on (several variation on these basic cast on's) at the top of this page, there is a tab for Video links --start there. if they don't work for you, search You tube for the cast on's by name.. It always good to know: a stretchy cast on a 2 yarn cast on a 1 yarn cast on a Noose (or eyelet) cast on a firm cast on a decorative cast on an invisible cast on (or you could go hog wild and learn 40 something cast ons--and 2 or 3 ways to do the 40 cast on's) (Helen the cast on queen!) |
Thanx so much for jogging my memory! I used the knitted method and it worked. Now I can finish my sweater. YAY!
