measuring Help

I am starting a cardigan and the pattern only has MD, LG and XL, normally I'm a small how could I figure out the measurements to make it work for a small? Thanks!

You can look at the st number differences between sizes and go down a 'size' that way. Say there's 8 sts difference in the CO number between sizes, you'd CO 8 sts less than the Med. Look at the schematic first for the measurements given. Could be this pattern runs small and the Med would fit you. You have to go by the measurements, not be someone's arbitrary lable of S M L XL or whatever.

Thanks for your help that makes sense. Also the patter reads actual measurement 40, 26 inches in length. Is 40 the circum. of the sweater? Thanks!

I just wanted to say that you're braver than I've been to try adjusting a pattern. I just haven't had the patience to do it.

40" sounds about right for the circumf. of a size-medium sweater.
