Make 1 for Morgan

Aug 11, 2008 Morgan Bradley Whiteley was born. He was very sick and his organs did not develop properly. Because of his under developed organs (mostly the lungs) he died 5 hours after his birth. It was the saddest and happiest day of our lives. I learned to knit while I was pregnant with him, because I knew it was a good stress reliever. The 1st project I completed was a blanket that I had him cremated with. I don't think we could have survived without God, knitting, our family and friends.

His birth date is coming up in 5 months and I want to do something in his honor. I would like to collect blankets, caps and booties for the babies in the NICU of Parkland Memorial Hospital of Dallas, Texas. These babies are the sickest of the sick. The items can be knit, crochet or sewn. I have contacted Newborns in Need, an organization that collects and delivers these items to Parkland. I am looking to have all blankets, caps and booties collected by Aug 5th 2009 and delivered to NIN on Aug 11.

Thinking about this project and putting it together has been very healing for me. I believe it has also helped my DD (7yrs old) as she has also gotten involved by handing out fliers in school and girl scouts. She is an amazingly strong child.

If you are interested, please PM me.

I have 4 friends that have signed up for a knitting class and will help out by knitting blankets for this cause. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such caring people.

Does the weight yarn matter? I noticed you have worsted or dk for the hats. I have some worsted that's balled together (it's just caron SS, not fuzzy or anything) and I'm making different size hats for it. Just some simple mindless knitting on double points because I'm strange and find them relaxing. Can you use them? If the hospital has said a certain weight that's ok. I understand.

It's sweet you are doing this.

The yarn you have works great. You're not strange, I find baby hats simple and mindless, too. Thank you so much for your generosity.:muah:
