Tips knitting with Bam Boo
 

Does anyone have any tips for knitting with Bam Boo?
I find it so slippery on the needles it is hard for me to keep gauge and handle. Maybe the term is, it is not an easy knit because of that.
Is there a certain needle that prevents the slippery movement of the stitches?
Any tips would be appreciated.

I haven't worked with it...What type of needle are you using? I wonder if wooden needles would work best :think:

Addi turbos

Bamboo needles like Clover or Knit Pick's Harmony Wood, may work better...Although the clover ends are not very pointy and I find them annoying after working Addi or my options...the Harmony tips are pretty good though :thumbsup:

$$$This is probably not the answer you're looking for$$$:) . . .but buying different needles is a good place to start. I've found that one of the best for non-slippage but still moving along are the Kollage squares. Which are about $15 each. They only come in dpns and circs, no straights at this point (actually they do have wooden straights which I don't like-- I'm talking about the aluminum ones). But for second best, Harmonies (called Symfonies in Europe) are great. I've also found that when knitting with bamboo, that the smaller the stitches, the less slippy it is. I don't know why, but if I'm using larger needles and larger sts, it's much harder to work with, but with smaller needles and smaller sts, it's far less of a problem:??.

Yep, I'd try bamboo needles.

what brand of bamboo needle are you using? I hate to say it because I love squeaky clean new stuff but if you are not interested in buying new ones have you tried some sand paper to remove some of the coat?

Ack! She's not using bamboo now she's using Addi Turbos. Never use sandpaper on those! :zombie:
