Truly a Beginner

I am so new at this but had started a scarf months ago and then had to help with my husband in the hospital, so the scarf got put on hold for quite some time. I had finished knitting a whole bundle of thread(is that said right??) but the scarf is still not long enough and I have another whole bundle of thread to do that. I understand I need to caston again but have forgotten how to do that. As I understand it, there are several different types of casting on systems. So what or which one should I be doing? As you can tell I am truly a beginner but willing to learn.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.:woot:

Did you cast off the sts you already had? You can take that out, or just start from where you left off, and knit up the rest of your yarn on the same piece. There are videos for the diffferent ones on the Cast on page, I'd reccommend trying the knit, cable or long tail COs if you want to start over.
