Need a good tutorial on reading charts

Hi, I have been knitting for a couple years now but have been avoiding charts and techniques like intarsia because I am terrified of the charts. I need a very very easy to understand tutorial. I have done a little double knit work but had a hard time with the chart so I had to type it all out and go from there. When I see those charts I skip the pattern because I know I can't do it. Any tips keeping track of where I am in a chart or any links to great tutorials are all appreciated! Thank,
Connie.
