FO: Kai's Blanket
 

Pattern: Baby Chalice Blanket
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy, Beach Fog colorway

The blanket is for my granddaughter Kai, who is due February 13. I chose this yarn because of the colors – my son and his wife are avid surfers and I thought they’d like the beach colors. Unfortunately, the yarn is not as soft as I had heard, and not what I would have chosen for a baby blanket if I had been able to touch it before buying. It softened up quite a bit with blocking, though, and will probably soften more with washing. I think the pattern is lovely, and the colors are gorgeous. The colorway and the pattern work well together. Too bad about the lack of softness; I looked up some yarn reviews and others compared it to Lorna's Laces which I love but its not as soft as alpaca and merino.

I too love the colorway. And I find the pattern interesting, in that mostly this leaf pattern is done without the interior shaping at the "tip" of the leaf. Very nice.
