well it is supposed to be k6, knit in pattern, k2...

well it is supposed to be k6, knit in pattern, k2 but what I don't understand is whyyyy, can't you just knit the 1st row as how it is supposed to be because won't the k6 offset the pattern

I haven't tried Bamboo yarn but from reading user comments it seems that bamboo yarns have a nice drape in general. This may be different for certain brands though.

I would suggest what suzeeq says about changing the way you knit but sometimes I do push the needle through with my finger and end up using a thimble but it does get quite cumbersome.
