So, my dilemna is this. I'm looking for an easy hat pattern that does not require circle needles. The only one that I have ever seen is from a Klutz book--it has you follow a pattern and then sew up...

It says that it's "piquant" and on a difficulty scale of 1-4, I'd say it's a 3. Is there a pattern that a person with minimal skill could attempt?
