If it's a cardigan and you knit in the round...

If it's a cardigan and you knit in the round you'll have to steek it to have it open at the front. If you are just using circulars to knit flat then you don't change anything.

Look up the silk yarn and see what was made with out. It's often shawls, scarves and loose floaty...

What fiber is the yarn used in the pattern? Reason I'm wondering is the yarn you're considering is more than half silk. Silk doesn't have a lot of body and drapes a lot. Not sure it would work with...

Because it's knit side to side you would measure from the cast on edge which is one of the sides not the top or bottom. Length would be adjusted with the cast oh I think.
