Changing wool start and end of row

I'm knitting a hedgehog which I plan to use as a door stop. The pattern uses two different wools a normal 4 ply and an 'eye lash' type of wool for the prickly bits.

I need to cast on 3 stitches...

Thanks RochesterKnitter, I hadn't thought about the stretchiness of the yarn. The end result has to be 'felted' anyway so that wouldn't be an issue.

I'm new to crocheting and have found an easy bag pattern that I'd like to try. The recommended yarn is 4ply mercerised cotton can I use 4 ply wool instead.

Hadn't thought of that. Thanks. It's a child's bolero style. I've decided to unpick it again (2nd time) and knit the back and sides up to the armholes as one.
