I don't know what I am doing wrong, but when I cast on I have so much left when I get the first row done. The more stitches the longer the tail gets. It drives me crazy.

How do you ssk in the middle of a row

the pattern I am working on calls to knit off 13 and then k2 and then ssk and then to knit to end. I dont see how to ssk a stitch. Can someone help me?
