Hat formula!

Does anyone have an easy formula for hats? I need to be able to adjust the size of the hat with different size needles and yarn. Is there an easy math formula out there? Help!

I think you might have to use smaller needles, depending what ply yarn and what size needles it calls for. You could also use two different colors together.

Thank you for the suggestions. I did figure out the gusset even though this was only my third pair of socks I made. I'm gonna try 56 sts and a larger needle, I hope that will work.
