Yeah, i would make it the bigger size because you can tie it as tightly as you want, but if it's too small it will be hard to wear.

I think that the thick scarves with big horizontal stripes are really in style. I am seeing them everywhere Like the harry potter scarves, but obviously you can do them in whatever color you want.

Also, i notice that when i am stressed i tend to knit with the work right up in my face, and i notice my wrists hurt more...

It's just fine to knit slowly. I usually only start knitting really fast when I am anxious and then i realize how fast i'm going and slow down so as not to wear out my hands or make amistake on...
