I am knitting a summer top. The pattern calls for a raglan sleeve and had me knit a few rows of an eyelett pattern. I have made a mitake and want to know if I can put a life line in after the fact...

I follow most of your suggestions...though there are no side seams to sew actually. the sides and back are all one flat piece.
Should I evenly space out the first sts I pick up to begin at edge...
