Easy Diagonal Rib Pattern Scarf
HI,
I'm a basic easy knitter so I love to find patterns I can adapt to make scarves. I found this diagonal rib pattern and hope you will find it fun to knit.
I took the pattern and played with it in order to do a bulky man's scarf in Patons Rumor(5 weight)- an alpaca blend. I am using two strands and #19 needles with 14 stitches that gives me about a 5'' width. You can adapt easily.
For the edges I'm doing a sl1 but could have added K2 or K3 for a different look at the edge.
It looks great!
Cast on as many stitches as you like multiple of 4 plus 2 if using a slip stitch edge, or plus 4 or 6 if using 2 or 3 knit stitches as the edging.
Knit one row
1 and 2 rows sl1( or edge stitches) K2, P2 until the edge stitch(es) then Knit them.
3. Do the edge and then K1 *p2,k2* K1 and then the edge
4. Do the edge and then P1 *K2,P2* P1 and then the edge
5 and 6 rows. Do the edge and then *P2,K2* and then the edge
7 As 4
8. As 3
Repeat the 8 rows until you reach your length.
It goes fast and gives a distinctive diagonal pattern.
Enjoy!
