Here's a small project to learn with - it's a dishcloth. so if you mess up and need to start over, it's not so big to be daunting. Or if you mess up and keep going, it's just a dishcloth so who cares if it's not perfect. Plus it's garter stitch, so that's one less thing to keep track of, no real stitch pattern to have to remember.
