I haven't...but I THINK the beads won't affect the warmth factor.
They may impinge on the cozy-wozy feel of the stole, but it'll still be warm on your shoulders, etc. Maybe even warmer.

I must say...that stole on the front cover IS TO DIE FOR!!

Now I have another book to buy......
