I agree with Ingrid. You have to love the yarn, which doesn't necessarily mean it has to be expensive. I go for the feel of the yarn and of course the color too.

I decided when I first started knitting that I was knitting only for my personal pleasure, so if I start a project and decide I don't like the yarn or the pattern, I stop. I know that would drive some of you crazy, but hey life is short, knitting is my love and not my job, so I'm not going to waste my time if I'm not enjoying it. Oh, and one more thing -- I'll finish it when I'm good and ready!
