Nope, you only need nine stitches, it's just you're making stitches with the YO's and removing slipped stitches by passing them over.
YO=0
Slip 1=1
K1=2
PSSO=2
YO=2
Slip 1=3
K2Tog=5
PSSO=5
YO=5
K2Tog=7
YO=7
K2=9
