No, don't use wool! This yarn is Berroco Comfort and is very, very soft. It's worsted weight and is made of acrylic and nylon. I got it at my LYS. Any very soft yarn is good though.

I wouldn't make a hat in fingering weight so I don't have any tested patterns, but here's a few. Make sure the yarn doesn't have wool though if you're using a sock yarn.
