5 1/2 sts and 8 rows = 4 inches?
Hi - I am a fairly new knitter and I am tried of knitting scarves - I found a pattern for a tank top that looks really easy that I want to try, but I can not figure out how to read the guage - I have watched videos, etc. but most of those talk about 2 inches or per inch - I am not sure what this 5 1/2 st and 8 rows = 4 inches means.... my guess is.... 5 1/2 over 2 inches across and 4 rows over 2 inches - will give you 4 inches??? but if that were the case then why wouldn't they just say over 2 inches???? see how confused I am???
