One of the reasons I learned how to knit was to knit a cabled hooded cardigan so when I saw the CPH I fell in love. It took me a while to buy the pattern and pick out the yarn but I think I'm finally ready to start. I actually decided to do the CPH as my Knitting Olympic challenge.

I just have one question. The pattern calls for both US#6 and #8 needles with the larger size being used for gauge. I've swatched and am getting gauge with US#10 needles with Naturally's Merino et Soie (10 ply). As the needles recommended are two sizes apart should I assume that I should use a needle two sizes smaller than the one I'm getting gauge with or stick with the #6? Or is there something I'm not noticing and neither choice is correct?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
