The problem I found is the same as you. Here's a few, but you might be better off just seeing how it's made and then adjust the stitches for a child's hat/scarf.

I will add this disclaimer...I don't recommend scarves for small children who might be on climbing toys or swings..anything where it could be come a hazard. If the child is not the type then it's probably not a problem.
