there is no knitting god that gave the commandments. Therefore the same term can mean different things, the same thing can have different names and it all comes down to: explain what you want in your pattern, that is safer.

I personally do a lot of patterns from Garnstudio. That is Drops Design and Drops yarn (great yarn, great price, by the way). A drop stitch page I do not know. Their videos I find here:

So what site have you found the video on?

Maybe that gives you an idea of different techniques - and of why there is a special explanation with your pattern.
