I was suspecting this in the first place but got derailed along the way: you want to make a long tube, but narrow. Pretty much just a scarf that is double thick and hollow inside... a long hose, pretty much. Nothing is supposed to be stuck through them but an arm would fit. So in shape like an overly long sleeve with no shaping.
well, for that you can look into a technique that is called "knitting in the round on straight needels" or you can use "magic loop" or you can use very small circs, if you find them, or you can in fact use dpn.
