K1 *k2tog, k1, yo,/ k2tog, k1, yo /k2tog, k1, yo,/ k2tog, k1, yo/
k2tog, k1, yo,/ k2tog, k1, yo k2 and increase

1 /1 1 1/ 1 1 1/ 1 1 1 /1 1 1 /1 1 1/ 1 1 1 /1 1 1 =22

It seems that you produce a yo stitch for every knit two together, so it should be balanced. How many stitches are you supposed to have at the end of the row?

The yo is counted as one stitch and the knit 2tog after it is another.
So bring the yarn forward between the needles and then knit two together
