If you dropped it and it's more than a few rows down it won't fix as easily because by then you've worked the fabric w/o it and there is no gap or loose yarn to pick it up again. In that case I just pick up what I can which is only a row or two..then I put a piece of yarn through the loop and weave it in on the back to hold it from dropping more.
