You should be able put the stitches on 3 and knit with the 4th. It will be very awkward for the first few rounds, though.
You might want to work a few rows flat and then join in the round. You'll have a little gap to stitch up in the center, but it might well be worth it. Knitting with 4 stitches on dpns is tough.
