I watched all those brioche videos too and got confused. It seemed like every teacher had a different way to do it. I don't have any experience with this two color brioche. I don't know if this is the "proper" way to do brioche, but I can tell you how I do it. It looks like the pictures and I guess that's all that matters. I cast on a multiple of 3. I don't do any setup row. It's the same pattern all across on both right and wrong sides. I *sl1 knitwise, yo, k2 together*. That's it. Try it and see if it works for you. You can do this on a small swatch with maybe 21 stitches. It does take six or seven rows before you begin to see the pattern.
