Yes, that's right. The back of a knit stitch is a purl and the back of a purl is a knit. So for stockinette stitch when you knit a whole row of sts and turn they look like purls and you purl them all. But you don't try to keep track of what you did to them on the previous row, just knit them how they look on this row. There's some videos and pictures in this thread
