Is this your second sock? Yesterday you were asking about the gusset which would have put you beyond the heel turn. Once you have picked up the stitches for the gusset you should have 56 stitches so you are four short.

Did you have 11 stitches on needles 1 and 3 and 22 stitches on needle 2 before you started to turn the heel?

Once you completed the heel turn did you have 11 stitches on needle 1 and 3 and 14 on needle 2? A total of 36 stitches.

If you had 36 total stitches as you started to pick up stitches for the gusset, did you pick up 10 stitches on each side of the gusset? This would have given you 56 stitches.

You could have turned the heel to far and only had 10 stitches on needle 2 after the heel turn or you did not pick up enough stitches on the sides of the gusset.

And be assured that the socks do get easier after the first pair or two and they can become addictive.
