The CO isn't considered a row and the sts on your needle got there on the 5th row, they won't be the 6th one until you knit another row. Eyelets are usually done in a pattern of yo, k2tog. To yo, wrap the yarn around the needle as if you were knitting a stitch, then put your needle into the next 2 sts as if it was just one stitch and pull the yarn through both stitches.
