Haha...silly me, I've been trying to figure this out for three days and I think I just answered my own question.
I am knitting back and forth for 10 rows...so that would mean it would make an opening because I'm not joi ning the rows at the ends. Wow. I guess it just took actually writing out my question to answer it!
