These are all done on the same stitch not consecutive stitches. Kpkpk into 1 stitch, then on the right needle, lift the 2nd st from the end over the st on the end, then the 3rd one, the 4th and the 5th st. You increased 4 sts with the kpkpk, but decrease 4 by lifting the extra ones over a single stitch.
