The number of stitches you cast on will determine the width of the piece you are knitting. The number of rows will determine the length of it. I don't understand your question

My question is, why am I casting on 60 stitches if I am only doing 33 rows??
but maybe someone else will. As for your seam, get there and worry about it then IMHO.
