Yep! My husband makes ceramics and he's made several of them. The ones he's made have a curved slot in the side, but I've seen them on Etsy with a straight slot or even a hole in the side. He found them a little difficult because the clay wants to collapse or shrink strangely when fired sometimes.

Did he make some of the ones in the link? They're really cool. I don't know if I'd use one for a yarn bowl, but it sure would be nice to own one.
