Don't let patterns for laceweight and small needles scare you off. Most of the time you can easily substitute heavier yarn and larger needles. I've done a lot of lace or fingering patterns with worsted and even bulky weight. There's a lot of fingering/sock weight patterns too which use a size 4 or 6, and can easily be knit on your size 7s. If you go on Ravelry and look at the projects for Derecho, several have been knit with dk or sport weight, even a couple with worsted.
