I know what you mean. I started this Sipalu bag a couple of years ago. I recently decided to pick it back up. After finishing about ten rounds of the second panel, I realized that my gauge had changed in the past two years. Apparently my knitting was much tighter then. I think I was using the same size needles. I thought about just leaving it, but I think I'll frog it. It's a beautiful pattern, and I want the finished project to be nice. Maybe I can drop down one needle size to compensate for the change in gauge?
