Welcome to knitting help! Knitting is a great hobby! Just be patient and expect to make a few mistakes a ask questions.

Oh could get a dozen different answers with that question.

So... what I always suggest is US size 8 or 9 needles and some smooth, solid colored, worsted weight (#4) yarn. No fuzzy or novelty yarn. I think bamboo needles are good to start with because they are less slippery. We have a bunch of great videos here that is the best way to learn.

When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.
